Hi! I am Ilke.
Memphis based Child and Family photographer
I've always loved photography — not professionally, just genuinely. It's been a hobby for as long as I can remember.
When my first son was born during covid, my family in South Africa couldn't meet him. So I did what came naturally. I picked up my camera and documented everything. It was my way of sharing him with the people who were missing it.
I'm still living abroad, and that distance has never let me forget how much these images matter. I also know what it's like to be in the chaos of early parenthood, too busy to capture them or take them in as they are right now. That's why I started Little Light Studio. Because I know how fast it goes, and how much you'll want something to look back on.
My sessions are relaxed, unhurried, and led by your child. I gently set the scene and then follow their lead - because the best moments can't really be planned, only noticed.
FAQ
Where is the studio?
Little Light Studio is based out of my home in East Memphis. I have a little studio set up in the backyard that's warm, relaxed, and nothing like a formal photography space. Full details are shared once your session is booked.
My child won't sit still - now what?
Good. Neither will mine. Little Light sessions are built around the way children actually behave; unpredictable, easily distracted, and completely wonderful because of it. We follow their lead, work around their mood, and find the magic in the in-between moments. Still and posed is never the goal because honestly that makes it less fun!
What should my child wear?
I shoot in soft, natural tones so I'd suggest keeping colors simple and neutral - nothing too bright or busy, so all the focus stays on your little one. This makes those photos timeless too!
I have a couple of outfits available for you to use, or feel free to bring your own. We can sort all of this out once your session is booked.
Do you do any other shoots?
Absolutely. Outdoor and natural light shoots are actually where my love of photography started. While my studio work focuses on a controlled, minimalist look, I love the spontaneity of outdoor sessions. If you'd love something a little different outside the studio, I'd be happy to make that happen. Just get in touch and we can chat about what you have in mind.
When will I get my images?
Your gallery is typically ready within two weeks, though it's often sooner. You'll receive a link to your private online gallery where you can view, download, and share your images.
